What is Web 2.0 according to the experts? What is it according to you?

While watching the YouTube videos, a common link appeared to me; Web 2.0 encompasses the collaborative process in which we work together to allow for the coordination and cooperation of ideas. Web 2.0 has allowed us to not only read information, but it has also made it easier to create and publish content. As an educator, I really enjoyed the videos from Will Richardson, www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFbDEBNS7AE. I believe he aptly stated and described the shift in technology from a personal, cultural and societal standpoint.
  • The ability to create and publish with Web 2.0 allows for the ability to network and connect with others in learning spaces online.
  • It is important for educators/teachers to understand and take ownership of technology.
  • Our school curriculum needs to be re-evaluated. Are we teaching students the skills they will need for the future?
With the progression of Web 2.0, we as educators, and our students alike will benefit from the ability to connect with others and engage in ideas. This connection can occur in the classroom, at home or while on vacation. I believe that with the use of multimedia technology in the classroom and the capacity to reach larger audiences, educators will have infinite possibilities in which to create and receive student assignments.
